I think one of the hardest thing you could do is start your own cosmetics line. Well, scratch that one of the hardest thing you could do is start a cosmetics line in Africa! I have so much respect for indigenous brands because it takes a lot of work to develop products that work for all ranges of medium to deep tones, addresses the Nigerian climate, and is cost effective.
The team at Taos Cosmetics have done all that and taken it a step further --- their products are ethical and organic! (The environmentalist in me is shoki-ing all over this room right now).
Organic cosmetics company TAOS Cosmetics have identified a niche, and have launched a new range of ethical products to cater to it based on a simple ethos: to create ethical and organic beauty products from botanical ingredients, designed specifically for women of colour with even the most sensitive of skin types.
You can tell from their product descriptions that the TAOS team has invested thousands of hours refining their niche, crafting their products and building their brand. In addition to their attention to detail, they are developing strong relationships with African bloggers and beauty experts. Their first campaign "Garden Party" was done with one of the biggest industry MUA vlogger, Beautybyjj. They have also worked with Beauty in Lagos and Style Me Africa.

TAOS seem to thrive on risk, but the manner in which they face challenges, with such confidence and relish, is even more refreshing than their company motto - 'to appeal to women who want to still look natural whilst rocking a bold lip.' For all these reasons and more, we are excited to introduce TAOS Cosmetics as our first indigenous brand partnership. We are really excited to work with the TAOS Cosmetics team and look forward to more in 2015!!
